Regardless of the fact the English IPA has very little in common with its modern counterparts, one can still expect firm bitterness and generous hop expression, although somewhat nuanced when compared to today's explosive India Pale Ales. Expect malt notes of biscuit and light caramel that give way to subtle apricot and bright citrus hop flavours, finishing with an earthy, drying bitterness.
